Description:
Pietra Bianca is an ancient and charming country house, situated a short distance from Ostuni and just a few minutes from the sea. The property stands in a countryside which is made up of red soil, outlined by dry–stone walls, and dotted by olive trees.
Pietra Bianca is a perfect place to spend a rewarding holiday in touch with nature in an outstanding and interesting region.
The building is made of local stone and fossile tophus (on the walls you can actually see various fossil moulds !).
The reconstruction works have taken care to preserve and enhance the original architecture.
Pietra Bianca is fully furnished with air conditioning and a brickwork kitchenette containing a fridge, gas cooker and all the necessary kitchen equipment.
The bathroom is large and fully equipped.
The furniture has been carefully chosen paying attention to all the details. All of the rooms are comfortable and cosy, they have been furnished with hand - made solid wood and wrought iron furniture, finished with exquisite window treatments throughout.
The original stone wall structure, the cloister vaults, the niches set in the thick walls, all re-create the emotion of an ancient and charming way of life.
The villa is set in the peace and quiet of nature overlooking olive groves and fruit orchards: our guests are free to pick the seasonal fruits from the trees !
There is a gazebo with garden furniture, wooden deck-chairs, hammocks and a barbecue facilities. Bike rental on request.
Ostuni
To visit Ostuni, the so-called “Città Bianca” (White City), is an unforgettable experience.
You go up towards the historical centre through a succession of narrow, winding streets made of white houses pressed together, painted windows, arches and steps. We suggest you take your time along the lanes and around the crafts shops: all of a sudden just around a corner you will behold the overwhelming view of the valley and the sea.
The 15th century cathedral has a splendid façade of local stone with an imposing 24 ray rose window.
The town hosts Music festivals and has many typical restaurants and bars where you can savour delicious local dishes or listen to live music. You can find discos along the coast. The cuisine in this area is genuine and full of inventive: flavours from the vegetable garden mix with the aroma of seafood, enhanced by an extraordinary olive oil and accompanied by tasty cheeses, “taralli”, “friselle” and generous, rich wines.
