The Calheta area has in recent years opened up to tourism due to the new network of tunnels and motorways, also the new and only sandy beach 2 minutes away from the house. Close to the village you have the start of many popular levada walks. The Arco da Calheta (Arco of Calheta) is like a large amphitheater of mountain in a curve sweeping down to the sea.
