My family and I spent the first week of August at La Casina and had a wonderful time there using it as a base for exploring the area and spending some time just relaxing. We received a very warm welcome and within minutes my young daughter was being shown the families horses. The apartment is set on top of a forested hill and has spectacular views across a lush valley towards the picos, although it does involve a bit of a climb so a car is definitely needed. The accommodation is of a high standard inside and out, the buildings have been lovingly renovated and are typical stone buildings of this region. There are two apartments but they have separate entrances and tables etc so you can have privacy if the other apartment is in use. The apartment was very clean and had all the utensils, stove and microwave expected, no oven though so bear this in mind when doing your shopping in the excellent supermarket located in Villavicosia. The region has loads going on although it is probably best to visit out of the main two weeks in august because everywhere was a bit busy. All in all highly recommended but make sure you buy some of the cider available in each apartment, I forgot and am regretting it now!
