It is situated on a quiet bay facing east towards the sheltering islands that border the bay. Port Carling offers a boat lock to Lake Muskoka and nearby park, a museum, dining, theatre and interesting shops. It is also located in the heart of various resorts, golf courses and quaint communities which are typical of Muskoka, including nearby Santa's Village in Bracebridge and the Cranberry Festival in Bala. Winter Fests are great times for snow enthusiasts; The Opera House of Gravenhurst prides itself with superb entertainment as does the dinner theatre in Port Carling. Even Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay is just 45 minutes away by car and the Moon River majestically runs from the nearby Bala Falls into the Bay.
