This stunning architect designed contemporary villa is set right on the beach on the outskirts of Lovina in Northern Bali. This is a very peaceful area with a relaxed pace of life and an authentic Balinese feel. The gently sloping volcanic sand beach is ideal (and safe) for swimming and leads to a coral reef, complete with colourful sea-life, so guests can go snorkelling in the front garden!

Although it is off the main tourist track, there are plenty of facilities in the area, including some excellent bars and restaurants. Being in easy range of Bali Barat national park, Menjangan Island and Kintamani, it is a perfect base for exploring Bali.

Villa Santhi is not part of a hotel chain or villa complex. It is an exclusive private luxury villa set in its own grounds with its own large swimming pool. The grounds feature tropical plants, bountiful coconut palms, statues and water features. The villa is only eight metres from the beach, with no road in the way.

The design is inspired by the ideal of tropical open living, with the distinction between outdoors and in not sharply defined. Ceiling height French windows allow magnificent ocean views from the bedrooms and large picture windows display the vineyards, rice fields and mountains at the rear. A lot of the rooms are open to the environment, allowing the light, ocean sounds and fresh sea air (but not insects) to permeate the rooms. The style is very unusual and probably unique in Bali. It is mainly contemporary but has a few Balinese touches, like a traditional "alang alang" (woven grass) ceiling in the master bedroom. There are many unusual and delightful features, like a "moat" - complete with folding drawbridge and a huge open-air bathtub.

Accommodation, over two floors, includes two main air-conditioned bedrooms, a spare bedroom, kitchen, dining room, two bathrooms, lounge, study, and two large open-air terraces.
