Description:
Enjoy nature and all it has to offer deep in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in Monroe County Tennessee, 22 miles east of Vonore.
Your Country Cottage at Hemlock Grove, located only 50 minutes from I-75 or the Knoxville Airport, tucks you away in extreme privacy and solitude in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Located in a private hollow on 300 acres you can immerse your senses in all that Nature has to offer. Spend days exploring streams, old growth forests, an old mountaineer homestead, and expansive views from a mountain top ridge.
For its remoteness, The House in Hemlock Grove is surprisingly close to many attractions. Bring your jet-skis or boat and enjoy Tellico and Chilhowee Lakes. Boat ramps are just a few miles away. Abundant trout run in gorgeous, rushing, Citico Creek just minutes away. The Citico forest service road runs along the creek for twenty magnificent miles through the Cherokee National Forest to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway (Hwy 165) and Indian Boundary Lake. Thirteen trails, within the National Forest, totaling 57.4 miles provide access to much of Citico Creek Wilderness. For a fun day trip, Dollywood and the other attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are less than two scenic hours away (76 miles). Motorcyclist will love the proximity to the "tail of the dragon" or Highway 129 to Deal's Gap.
Monroe County and the Overhill area of Tennessee are rich with curious nooks and crannies to explore from old forts and Indian heritage museums in Vonore to flea markets and antique districts in Sweetwater. Visitors always comment about the astounding scenery in the area.
Spring has wild dogwood, red bud trees and laurels. Summer offers the cool springs and lakes, gentle breezes, beautiful flowers, and quiet nights on the deck. Fall, of course, has the Autumn Gold Festival among others in the area and the leaves are beautiful. Winter gives you snow sledding, wild turkeys and deer. Sorry, no hunting on the property.
Everything is furnished, right down to the silverware. So just bring your hiking boots and enjoy the tremendous beauty and tranquility that The House in Hemlock Grove has to offer! The House has just undergone extensive renovation in 2004. The exterior received new siding, roofing, doors, windows and a 250 square foot rear deck. The interior received bamboo and tile flooring throughout, all new doors, bathrooms, laundry and kitchen. A wood-burning stove has just been installed for very cozy fall and winter evenings.
Gleaming bamboo floors, handmade Persian rugs, vintage and antique decor wrap you in a luxurious spa-like atmosphere. A crackling fire in the copper fire bowl on the deck or the wood burning stove inside will melt away the knots of the city. A cool mountain breeze erases your cares.
The House can sleep eleven plus and has five bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a private outdoor shower. There are two twin bedrooms, two queen bedrooms, one double bedroom as well as a daybed. Bring your RV for an additional fee and sleep a few more!
Enjoy a gentle mountain rainstorm from a large covered front porch while you read and relax. Ponder how many shades of green exist when sunlight dapples the magnolia, dogwood, willow, poplar, ironwood, hemlock and white pine. Count all the different sounds that a native forest produces. Take a nap. Sooth away any stress with a steamy outdoor shower. Enjoy a meal on the expansive deck with a group of cherished friends and family.
