Location.
Monsegur is a small medieval "bastide" town in the Bordeaux wine region of S. W. France.
Only 1 hour from Bordeaux and close to St. Emilion and Bergerac. It is ideal for touring the Dordogne, Lot et Garonne and the Gironde, with it's endless miles of beautiful beaches.
How to get there.
Fly to Bordeaux (1 hour away) or Bergerac (45 minutes away) airports. Or drive from further afield on France's excellent and quiet roads.
Town Features.
This charming and very "French" little town has shops, bars, restaurants, banks and much more - all you need to enjoy a relaxed holiday in this beautiful part of S W France.
Enjoy wonderful views across the River Dropt valley from the medieval ramparts.
Leisure Activities.
For the energetic there are excellent tennis courts and a swimming pool. Golf is available nearby, along with fishing and horse riding.
The town is surrounded by vineyards producing excellent and very reasonably priced red, rose and white wines. It is possible to visit the individual chateau and to enjoy free tastings of their wines.
Shopping.
Tho local shops, including an excellent supermarket should provide all your needs for an enjoyable holiday.
Larger shops can be found in the nearby small towns of Marmande, La Reole and Bergerac. For the ultimate experience visit the chic and upmarket city of Bordeaux, with it's first class new tram system.
Restaurants, Bars and Nightlife.
Monsegur and the surrounding area has several excellent restaurants, some very reasonably priced. Les Colonnes has a free Tuesday evening Jazz night.
There is a choice of 3 bars.
Nightlife is very low key. Eating, drinking, chatting with the friendly local French people. Or visit the lovely little cinema to watch a good film.
Events.
In July Monsegur welcomes Jazz fans from around the world fo the "24 Heures du Swing" - a weekend long festival of music.
On Wednesday evenings in summer there is a wonderful market where you can eat a variety of local foods, drink local wines and enjoy the music and atmosphere. The whole town comes out for a night of fun.
