Borovets

The region of Beli Iskar is situated at the foot of Musala peak at an altitude of 1130 meters, with incredible scenery and is most strategically placed in the Rila Mountain.
Many attractive routes start from here to the 2925 m. high Musala peak ( the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula ), to Borovets and Malyovitza resorts, the Seven Rila Lakes, Vada, Chakar Voyvoda, Yastrebetz and Granchar chalets and Tzarska Bistritza palace.
The greatest advantage of Beli Iskar is that it is located close to the Rila National Park. This is the largest natural reserve in Bulgaria. The total area of the reserve is 12393,7 ha spreading its territory around Beli Iskar and the Musala summit. Just 1 km away from the village is the start of the Beli Iskar Eco – Walk. There are many sights in the park, but most interesting are the wild animals which can be seen at any time of the day throughout the year. The animals and also the rare plants are protected by, and registered in, the Red Book. Throughout the Eco – Walk there are tables with benches, so that tourists can make themselves comfortable whilst taking in the sights. There are special places for barbecues, which are marked (those who do not observe the rules of the park are fined). Everyone should see this beauty, appreciate it and also learn how to protect it.
