Saumur

Saumur is a typical lovely french town by the river Loire with a chateau. The whole town is built of white soft local stone with black tiled roofs. There are weekly markets in the town, good choice of resturants of all types and prices. The National Equestrian Centre is based here. Also Saumur is surrounded by vineyards, which produce the famous Saumur Champigny. A good base to discover the Anjou region.
