Calpe

Calpe is about 30 mins drive north of Benidorm and has a fishing port, plenty of shops and stores, marina and long promenades. It is best reached by motorway from Alicante airport, although a coach does run 4 times a day from the airport. There is also a train and a coach service from Alicante.

The two Blue Flag beaches are long white and sandy with lots of restaurants, bars and children's play areas. Here you can find the famous spectacular Calpe Rock rising 332m high which dramatically divides the two beaches. There are many other bars and restaurants in Calpe and nearby offering varied top quality local and international cuisine that cater for every taste (Greek, Dutch, German, Belgian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Thai, French etc).

The old town has narrow streets and is very picturesque with its museums, colourful paintings on the walls, steps, traditional tapas bars and quaint park areas. There are well preserved Roman & Moorish remains which are evidence of Calpe’s rich history. The salt lake on the edge of the town is home to flamingos and numerous other aquatic birds, some quite rare.

There is a weekly general market on Saturdays and a flea market on a Wednesday. In Calpe you can enjoy all the hustle and bustle and a variety of activities to suite everybody, young or old.
