Located in the rear and quieter part of the Old Town, but still within 100 metres of the main squares and very reasonable restaurants; the apartment, part of an old palace building has original features including shuttered windows, exposed stone walls and parquet floors. The town is nestled against the backdrop of the mountain with old fortress atop, which is a ‘must do’ walk to take in the truly fantastic views, the scene being lit up at night in a giant horseshoe to spectacular effect. Marina and port are just a 5 minute walk through the town from where buses and taxis are available. If wanting to travel around the surrounding area, visit Perast 15 minutes away; a beautifully preserved fishing village (where superstars such as Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones stay). Beaches are within easy reach as is the national nature park in the interior.
Location
Kotor Old Town - Stari Grad, is generally regarded as being the 'place to be'; almost all locations in Montenegro will be referenced to their distance from Kotor. The Old Town is within the natural fjord that is Kotor Bay or Boka Katorska. Being a UNESCO listed town, the historic setting is it was centuries ago with cobbled, narrow streets and squares. Budva is Montenegro's liveliest beach resort and 30 minutes away. Sveti Stefan is 5 km further along the coast from Budva, an exclusive picture postcard island formerly used by Sopha Loren and her film star friends in the 70's, now being used (and bought) by today's “A-listers”. The alpine like interior has the UNESCO protected nature park with Europe's largest lake and protected wildlife. In some more elevated regions, snow (and skiing) is to be found practically all year round providing a great alternative to the coast For a fantastic day out visit Dubrovnik Old Town in Croatia just 1 hour drive away.
